Have natural curls? Looking for styling tips?

Then you've come to the right place. There are a few basic steps (that probably aren't that far off what you're currently doing) you've got to follow if you want to keep your curly coiffure looking its best.

1) Shampoo, rinse, and repeat.

That's right - you should follow what most shampoo bottles will tell you. Once you've thoroughly shampooed and rinsed out your hair, do it over again. This is how you get your shampoo to do what it's advertised to do - you'll get added softness, silkiness, and glow. The first shampoo simply cleans dirt and oils out of your hair, but the second is what brings it to that "next level" - and provides all kind of extra bounce for curly locks.

2) Comb conditioner through your hair.

This is crucial - you don't ever want to mess around with combing dry curls. It's stressful for your hair and painful for you. Be sure to apply lots of conditioner and really work it in there, using a wide-tooth comb or a vented brush. This is the best way to shape your curls, and an excellent way to avoid winding up with the "broken curl/Afro" look.

You'll want to thoroughly rinse the conditioner out of your hair next, then wrap a towel around it - be sure to avoid rubbing the towel over your head as this will break up the curls you just shaped.

3) Be sure to use lots of curling products!

While your hair is damp, you'll want to add a few products to it to ensure your curls are looking their best all day long. Start out with an anti-frizz cream and thoroughly work it through your hair. Next, you'll want to add some mousse, which is often thought to be curly hair's "best friend." Try to add just enough - not too much, which makes hair brittle, and not too little, which leads to frizz. Start in the front and work your way around your head so as to reinforce your curl shape.

4) What should you do next?

Air drying is the best - and healthiest - way to dry your hair. You can style it in an updo or you can leave it down, depending on what you're in the mood for. An extra tip: we know it's tempting, but don't touch your hair! The more you play with and tousle your hair during the day, the more frizz you're going to get. If you need to, you can perform a mid-day touch up by moistening broken curls and wrapping them around your finger to reshape them.
